The America Cup

The America Cup International Fly Fishing Tournament will be held in Colorado this September. Two esteemed RBF Pro Staffers will be competing in this event. GregG and Midger are members of Team Freestone from Pennsylvania. The tournament, based on FIPS Mouche rules, will feature teams from Poland, Ireland, Australia, Japan, Wyoming, North Carolina and Arkansas. GregG and Midger can catch trout in a sewer, so I know that they will do well in the Arkansas River, Blue River, Ten Mile Creek and the Upper Colorado River.

GregG (Summiteer Emeritus) is famous for his Polish Nymphing Techniques.

Midger (Second in Charge) is famous for his ability to catch Orange Trout.

Besides being great anglers, our Pro Staffers are of high moral character. They will compete with dignity bringing honor to our sport. They will be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. Let’s wish them well! Good Luck Pro Staffers and Carry on!

I can't imagine a more lethal angling duo anywhere in the lower 48 than Midger & Greg. And their "aw shucks" attitude only compliments their already impressive skill set. Everyone else might as well go home after Team Freestone takes the field.

Good luck & best wishes to both of them.

P.S. Are those 25' curly-Q leaders allowed under FIPS-Mouche rules? I kinda drifted off around page 25 of the rule book.

Polish nymphing? I invented that technique over 40 years ago on Penns Crick with my good friend, Zbigniew Brzezinski.

I’m sure those two will pull more than there weight fkor team freestone.
Midgers ability to spot nice sized fish is just outstanding (Old Red Tail). I don’t know how many time I fished that section and never spotted him.
Best of luck to Team Freestone

P.S.
Wade you made it further thru the rule book than I did.

Did you hear about the new game fish Midger is working on at hatchery? He took a Coho and crossed it with a Walleye and calls it a Kowal. It had great taste, and fought like hell, but wasn't very large. So he crossed it with a Muskie, and called it a Kowalski. It has the best of everything: it fights hard, it tastes great, and it grows up to 50 inches. The only problem is he's having trouble teaching it to swim!

Sorry, It's just the first thing I thought about!

Wade: yes, the curly-Q leaders are allowed. See section rbf.1.2.3.4 "Indicators and other contraptions" Also allowed are thingamabobbers. But not a caddis and a bead.

Best of luck Greg and Pat. Make us proud.
