Forget about the Poconos and the Catskills, the forks at Wharton were the cradle of wet fly fishing in America long before Annie Oakley or Grover Cleveland brought their greenheart fly rods to vacation at the Henryville House on the Broadheads Creek. Early settlers of this region were swinging trios of wet flies (sometimes at night) even before Cyrus Goodsell built his planing mill at the mouth of Mill Creek on the upper Allegeny River in Coudersport, Pa.

I once tried breeding chickens to obtain an olive dun hackle. While in the feed store buying mash for my flock, I engaged in conversation with a rather annoying woman. I suspected she was a flatlander. She began asking question after question about how I was raising these rather ungodly birds. You see, some were bright green in color. Then came the most annoying question of all. “How many times a year do you skin those chickens?” I calmly replied, “Just once, ma’am; any more than that they get meaner than hell.”

The RBF Pro Staff

The RBF Pro Staff is an elite cast of fly fishing characters with unique and varied talents. The RBF Pro Staff was assembled by RatherBFishin aka Chief during the Big Woods Summit of 2006 along the banks of the First Fork of the Sinnamahoning after witnessing or otherwise learning of various ungodly fishing accomplishments.

The RBF Pro Staff became famous for its ungodly posts on a forum hosted by a local fly shop.

Members of the RBF Pro Staff can catch fish in a sewer. The RBF Pro Staff enjoys both food and drink.

We open doors for women. That applies to all women, regardless of looks. There are no ugly women, some are just prettier than others.

We love our country and respect others.
